One quarter of workers within this laborshed commute over 50 miles one way to work for gainful employment. As well, there are over half a million employable individuals in our laborshed, giving tenants at TexAmericas Center access to a valuable talent pool that mimics a larger metro market, while still operating in one of the most cost-effective areas in the State of Texas. In fact, average labor rates for all occupations in the regional workforce are 18% lower than the Texas average, and approximately 22% lower than the national average.
In addition to cost savings, the TexAmericas Center laborshed has approximately 117,000 potential workers, including 36,000 unemployed individuals, 30,000 underemployed individuals, and 51,000 workers who commute outside the laborshed. This significant labor pool can be tapped with local, quality job opportunities.
Talent Pipeline
The greater Texarkana area has a rich talent pipeline, with 32 colleges and universities. Within the 75-mile laborshed resides 86,000 enrolled students, with 23,000 graduating per year. Texarkana has earned the reputation of a college town, with 12 institutions of higher learning and over 10,000 students pursuing certificates and degrees. Among these institutions are Texas A&M-Texarkana, University of Arkansas at Hope-Texarkana, a branch of the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences, and the local Texarkana College. There is even a branch of Texarkana College on TexAmericas Center’s property known as TC@TAC to provide a state-of-the-art technical and educational facility. These institutions have a proven track record of being flexible in their training options and responsive to industry needs and a commitment to continue doing so.
